CURTIS R. SHELTON

Curtis received his undergraduate degree in psychology from Northwestern State University, and his law degree from Louisiana State University, where he wrote for the Louisiana Law Review and was a member of the Order of the Coif. He graduated ranked 5th in his law school class. Curtis was admitted to practice in 1985.

Curtis was an attorney with Cook, Yancey, King & Galloway from 1985 through 2007. While a partner and shareholder in Cook Yancey, Curtis served as Associates Chairman, a member of the Executive Committee--Board of Directors and that firm's compensation committee. Curtis was President of Cook Yancey from 2001 through 2005.

Curtis has a BV rating with Martindale Hubble.

Curtis handles business transactions, including oil, gas and mineral lease transactions and leases, litigation and trials. He represents financial institutions and lenders in making secured loans, in creditor's rights and collections generally and in protection of creditor's rights in bankruptcy. Curtis handles negotiable instruments forgery and fraud matters. Curtis advises and represents clients in a number of other areas including commercial, construction, products liability, real estate and property taxation and related litigation.

Curtis is a member of the American Bar Association (ABA), the Law Practice Management section of the ABA, the Louisiana State Bar Association and the Shreveport Bar Association, and is admitted to practice in the courts of the State of Louisiana, the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana and the Eastern District of Louisiana and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He is a past member of the Harry V. Booth American Inn of Court and the Bank Counsel Section of the Louisiana Banker's Association. Curtis is a frequent speaker on creditors' rights topics.
